Volunteer
Minute Man Arc for Human Services has volunteer opportunities for individuals
and groups who want to work with children and adults with developmental disabilities.
WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERISM ACCOMPLISH AT MINUTE MAN ARC?
The Volunteer Program at Minute Man Arc exists to enhance the quality of life of the people we serve and ensure the excellence
of agency programs and services. Volunteerism allows us to offer integrated, community-based services to children and adults.
It enriches our programs with shared talents and hands-on participation and allows us to offer a broader range of activities
than would otherwise be possible. In addition, volunteerism fosters friendships between members of our community and program
participants of all ages. Volunteers who have had a good experience often become ambassadors for the agency and advocates for
the people we serve. We are deeply grateful for the invaluable support of agency volunteers.
SHARING TIME & TALENT
Volunteerism brings individuals and groups to Minute Man Arc to offer support in a variety of ways.
- Group projects: painting; landscaping; carpentry; interactive recreational, athletic or social projects and event support
- Individual support: friendship; tutoring; recreation; athletics; community access, shared hobbies or activities;
teaching; classroom support; gift giving; service donations; event support and agency committee support---
- and more!
We match the skills and interests of volunteers with the identified needs of individuals and programs. Volunteers are encouraged to be innovative in identifying possible areas of involvement.
MATCHING THE VOLUNTEER(S)
TO THE NEEDS
We recruit volunteers at local schools, churches, community organizations and volunteer recruitment centers.
Most volunteers come with specific needs and we have an ongoing list of needs, identified by Program Directors and
Managers, with which we try to match them. The most successful placements are the ones in which the needs on both sides
mesh well. When that happens, volunteerism is win-win! The more we focus on placement, the more successful our volunteer program becomes.
If you are offered a volunteer placement that does not fit your needs, the best thing you can do is say so! Careful matching and
good communication between volunteers and agency staff are essential to successful volunteer placement.
