Workshops and Trainings for families and others interested in topics related to developmental disability are offered through the year. Families will be notified of trainings by email (Constant Contact).

The Damon Family Resource Center, located in our 1269 Main Street Center, provides a gathering space where Early Intervention Families can access information, network and share resources during the day; and families, agency staff and community members can meet at night.

Family Advisory Council
Minute Man Arc's Family Advisory Council has increased family input into our agency's work and has strengthened family partnerships in ways that benefit individuals served by the organization. The work of the Family Advisory Council has resulted in several positive outcomes for families, service recipients, and Minute Man Arc. Council members provide guidance and advice to the organization based on their unique family perspective. Agency policy, programs, services, and procedures have gradually reflected the growing voice of family members. The Council fosters positive ideas for family-centered practices. The Council has increased agency and community awareness of family-centered principles, identify and promote best practices, and develop plans to create family support programs.

The Council has also afforded Minute Man Arc an opportunity to evaluate the agency's requirements of the consumer's family. The Council has provided an important vehicle to strengthen the agency's new family partnership initiative.

Parent Support Group and Training
Through the expertise of a local parent Minute Man Arc has developed Parent Support Groups to help parents of individuals with disabilities find a safe place to share experiences and day-to-day challenges and learn ways to navigate the system to meet the needs of their loved ones. Trainings are offered regularly to parents within Minute Man Arc and surrounding community schools to help educate parents on issues they will encounter as their child enters the adult system. Trainings include Awareness of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Guardianship, 688 Transition, Housing, IEP Training and Masshealth. Trainings are offered in the evening. Topics are rotated to ensure we meet the needs and demands of our families.
